Yoga Eco-Adventure with Beryl Bender Birch
Blue Spirit Retreat - Nosara, Costa Rica
February 12-19, 2011

The Place:
Wonderful News!  We are thrilled to announce that the location for our Winter 2011 Eco Yoga Vacation will be a return to our current favorite winter destination **Costa Rica **!!  This year for the first time we will go to the West Coast ¬– to the brand new, truly spectacular Blue Spirit Retreat in Nosara – one of the most beautiful spots in all of Costa Rica.  Poised high on a peninsula overlooking the azure blue Pacific Ocean, Blue Spirit is surrounded by stunning natural environment and is only a five minute easy walk to a pristine 3-mile long white sand beach (also protected as a turtle reserve).   With tile floors, rock gardens, infinity pool, and luscious heavy wooden beam and bamboo construction (from local Costa Rican sustainable farms), the entire resort is open to the environment and meals are enjoyed gazing out on the unique Costa Rican landscape.  Beryl spent a week there in January this year and fell in love with the place, the people, and the Pacific!!

The Program:
Blue Spirit (the new 2009 site for Omega Institute’s winter programs) is designed exclusively as the perfect place to meet like-minded friends or to experience solitude, and to practice, recharge, detox your body, and revitalize your spirit.   Morning meditation, daily asana and pranayama, ritual, and study (beautiful glass windowed yoga room at the top of the hotel looking out over the Pacific – incredible!).  Warm sunny skies, gentle ocean waters, and perfect yoga weather!!! Free time for swimming, surfing, walking to town, and hiking in the neighboring nature reserve. Fantastic organic vegetarian cuisine with fresh, locally grown real food , prepared by local chefs, trained by the expert culinary staff from Omega.

The Package:
There is a wide range of excellent lodging options to meet every need, ranging from $1200 (Eco-cottage with shared bath) to $1800 (superior room with Ocean view and private bath) per person double occupancy ($1200 to $2450 single occupancy).  Most options offer private bath.  Participants can chose between lodging in the main inn or in beautiful wooden cottages scattered around the property.  See below for rates and details. Pricing includes 7 nights’ accommodations, 3 meals daily, and all yoga activities.  All prices will increase by $100 after October 1, 2010.  The facility offers wifi, library, eco-excursions, and evening events. Omega Institute - Rhinebeck, NY
June 24-July 1, 2011

The Place
Omega's lakeside campus is set on 195 acres of rolling hills and  farmlands in the  historic  Hudson River Valley, just two hours north of New York City.  A peaceful oasis in a hurried world,  Omega has been a pioneer in offering personal growth and wellness retreats since l977.  Beryl has been on faculty at Omega since l985 and loves to teach at this beautiful healing center where  students can relax, rejuvenate, and feel at home in the midst of nature's bounty and a community of warm, caring people. The beauty of  the gardens, the lake, and wooded trails, the friendly staff, the  great food  (mostly vegetarian) and the  outstanding  facilities at  the Wellness Center, all support  why people like  us go to Omega .  Light meals and  out of this world desserts  make the Cafe a popular watering hole in between classes and regularly scheduled meals at the renowed Omega dining hall.  And the bookstore is a place you will find yourself visiting over and over.

The Program
Early meditation, breakfast, regularly scheduled class from 9 to noon, lunch break, and the afternoon session from 2:30-5:00.  Free time to enjoy the country lanes for walking and jogging, and  the tennis and basketball courts are always open.   Some evening sessions scheduled.  Great community and connection with like minded souls.  Always an extraordinary experience.

“Once we have truly awakened, only then can we begin to truly ‘teach yoga’ and take our practice ‘off the mat and into the streets’.” says Birch.  “ We then can genuinely move from an egocentric, self- centered perspective to an ever-increasing concern for a greater dimension of life as a whole, seeing the Universe as “not two” but as a single energy event.”
